The is the "Festival of Lights" commerating the Machabees and the seige of the temple by Antiochus of the Syrian Greeks. There was enough oil to light the temple for one night, but the miracle was it lasted for 8... The Jews won... ... Oh, Chanukah, oh Chanukah, come light the Menorah... ... ... Hazzen Chanukah, from the old irish catholic rock!
To me it is the "feast of dedication" that Christ did keep as a holiday according to the scriptures in John 10:22.. it is a tradition to the biblical Jews.. Jews that do not believe in Christ are not Jews which was talked about in the book of revelation chapter 3 verse 9
I think that Hanukkah is the Jewish celebration remembering the cleansing of the temple that took place after it was defiled by Antiochus Epiphanies, but i'm not sure. I'd have to look it up on Wikipedia. I'm a Christian so I don't know that much about Hanukkah.

I was in a Temple one time and the Rabbi was late for the service. I opened the book and I started reading. I got to the section of Hanukkah. I very vividly remember that the celebration consisted of two parts. The first was has a dedication aspect to the faith. The second is the the complete break-away from all alien to the faith influences. Most notably, to the influence that ancient Greek post classical philosophy and science had upon the Jews of the diaspora. The Neoclassical School of Greek philosophers injected for the first time the idea that nature and humans were not necessarily the creation of Gods but the results of other processes. Hence, the educated diaspora of Jews were elated by the new thoughts. They transfer and taught these concepts back home, where for obvious reasons were not popular at all with their clergy. Finally, the clergy won the battle, and Hanukkah took the celebration of getting rid of all the culture associated with the Greek Neo-classical way of thinking.
It is the ancient celebration of light. They only had enough oil to light their menora oil lamps for one day, and could not get more oil. This was after a war when Judea of Macabee conquered the Syrian king. The were rededicating the temple They all prayed to God, and God made the oil last miraculously eight days.
I'm jewish, so what do you want to know?
It is the Jewish version of Christmas. Most of the Jews do not believe that Jesus was the son of God. That's all I got!
